Roxas kept twisting and turning, not bothering to calm down. But when he felt warm hands on his body, he opened his eyes in shock. He caught the scent of burned wood and cinnamon. The blonde started to cry, as he whispered: ‘A-axel… You’re here… You’re really here!’ He grabbed the other’s hand, and clenched it tightly. ‘C-calm down… I’m f-fine… You’re here now…’

Axel continued holding Roxas a minute longer, deeply inhaling the blond’s scent, tampered by the smell of the hospital, to reassure himself before he could let go. Keeping his hand on Roxas’ face, he pulled back and wiped at his tears. “Please don’t do that to me again,” he begged quietly, doing his best to smile. He gently stroked Roxas’ cheek with his thumb. “I’d never forgive myself if anything happened to you.”

Roxas cried, tears flowing endlessly. ‘Just… Don’t leave me… I can’t live without you…’ He whispered. He felt like his already fragile, new heart had been shattered, and could barely be fixed. ‘What happened? Where am I?’ He asked, cupping Axel’s face with his hand to bring it closer, before placing a soft kiss on his lips.

“I won’t leave you,” he promised, gently kissing him back. Holding Roxas’ face in his hands, he leaned back as the doctors started working on the blond’s ripped stitches. “I brought you to the hospital after you passed out.” he explained softly.

Roxas glaces at the doctors working, not even flinching as the needle pushed through his skin. He averted his eyes, not looking at Axel. ‘Y-you weren’t supposed to see me like this. It had to be over before you saw me like this…’ He squeezed his eyes shut, tears streaming down. He let out a big sigh and his expression became emotionless. ‘Please… Don’t look at me…’ He whispered softly.

Feeling his tears welling up again, Axel shushed him softly and placed his hands on either side of Roxas’ face to force him to look at him. “Sh, it’s okay,” he murmured, at a loss of what to say. Willing himself not to start crying again, he leaned down to kiss the blond again, trying to pour in all the love he could without crying.

Roxas started to cry harder from the kiss, grabbing Axel’s face with both hands, trying to make that touch last for ever. When he was forced to break it, he was gasping for air. Still crying, he stared at his fiance, and whispered: ‘I want to get out of here. I want to get married. Can we go and get married now?’ The blonde’s lip was still quivering, and he was shaking. His sapphire pools were filled with desperation, and he couldn’t wait to get out of that steril enviroment and be home again.

Feeling his tears starting to flow again, Axel wiped at his eyes again. He wanted that, too. More than anything. He wanted to make sure Roxas inescapably knew how much he loved him. “One minute,” he said, standing up and turning to the waiting doctor. He quickly explained the what Roxas wanted, and the doctor crossed her arms, sighing.

“Well, I would like to keep him under observation, but I do suppose he would be more comfortable at home, especially with how he reacted when he woke up.” She nodded. “Okay. Just keep a close eye on him, make sure he rests and doesn’t open up the stitches again.”

Axel smiled in relief, thanked her, and turned back to Roxas. “We can go. And, if you feel up to getting married now, then that’s what we’re going to do.”

The blonde nodded, and extended his arms. ‘We have so much to do. So much to arrange..’ He whispered. His heart was overflowing with love and joy, and that love came put in waves of tears. He chuckled, while trying to wipe them away, but failing miserably. ‘I’m sorry, Axel…. So sorry..’ He whispered, the tears of joy making place for tears of sadness. He didn’t know how long he could stand the doubt in his mind.

When Roxas woke up, he noticed white all around him, and it hurted his eyes. He looked around, and saw people in white coats hanging over him. But he couldn’t spot his red-headed fiancee. He started to panick, and screamed. ‘AXEEEL!! WHERE IS AXEL? AXEEL!!’ He was tossing and turning, opening his freshly stitched wounds. He noticed strong men holding him down, while a woman ran out. The blonde didn’t care about anything. Not that his body was in agonizing pain. Not the fact that the men were struggling to hold him down. All he cared about was that the warm hands of his lover had to be on his face to calm him down.

Axel had fallen asleep some time after they took Roxas away, but was woken suddenly when a nurse shook his arm. Panic initially filled him when he saw the worry on her face.

“Your fiancée’s woken up,” she explained quickly, “but he’s panicking and needs to see you.”

Relief whooshing out of him in a sigh, Axel jumped to his feet and followed her as she briskly sprinted down the hall and into one of the many generic white rooms. He immediately rushed to the bedside, pushing away the man standing in his way and holding down the thrashing body. Fresh tears sprang to Axel’s eyes as he leaned down to hold the blond, relief threatening to make his legs collapse under him. “Roxas! Oh, Roxas! You’re okay!” he sobbed into the other’s shoulder, hand trembling as it stroked Roxas’ face.
